Independence: Unnatural, Alien, Deviant. Humans cannot be fully independent from history. They are unconsciously influenced by ideas that have already been established. Anyone who claims originality must be questioned without question. Each idea to surge through our (humans) brain has become a building piece in our colorful superstructure in Lego land.

These building pieces are ever present in the organized system of culture. Any artist takes influence from history to create a new piece that illustrates their role in the culture. Yes, you’ve heard this before, but Paul D Miller puts remix into new light. He describes remix as a necessity of life whether it is conscious or unconscious.

Paul D Miller not only talked about remix in the art world but remix in relation to technology in our everyday lives. He said "Technology is a collective hallucination and we are able to send our visions and ideas in ways our ancestors would have thought were godlike." Transformation of the species will occur once technology has gone from being something humans are dependent upon to a “core aspect of our existence.” Will this be a sudden change or are we slowly working to this goal?

You can always squeeze something out of the past to make it something new. DJs take parts of previously written music and rewrite it to make it their own so it’s not just cut and paste it’s a language written with a new perspective.
